Sanxingdui Museum Sanxingdui Museum is in the suburbs of Guanhan city ,on the northeast of Chengdu Plain , about 40km away from Chengdu . This site covers an area of 12 km . So far , it is one of the oldest sites found in our history . According to archeological inference , this site might be the city center of an ancient kingdom which existed more than 3000 years ago .On this site , more than 2000 pieces of exquisite bronze wares , jade wares , pottery were found and other utensils were excavated . The exposure of the artefacts caused a great sensation among the archeologists in China . Thanks to the joint efforts of local people , scientists , archeologists , these findings will help us to learn about the remote past . Sanxingdui Museum was built on the original site of this ancient city in 1997 . It presents the general profile of the ancient civilization in this region and displays the unearthed antiquities .It has become the destination of archeologists and tourists who are keen on Chinese culture and history . Sanxingdui with Pyramid They are at the same latitude . Their arrangement are the same along the southwest line , facing the constellation Orion . The bronze masks and golden scepter share so much similarity with those in Maya , Ancient Egyptian , Ancient Greek and Indian Culture . According to the ancient calligraphy , the Chinese words ,Sanxingdui , resembles sacrificial platform or observatory .Several important parts were found on an axis . A complete drainage system was also found . Bronze mask with protruding eyes and big ears In Sanxingdui Museum Its unique design is very impressive . The most popular version is that this mask is Cancong . Three masks were found . Three bronze trees were found . Standing Bronze Statue Ten Statues and figurines were found . The biggest one is 2.6 meters and smallest one is 3cm tall . Many scholars thought that this must be the king of Shu Kingdom . You know , according to the archaeological history , the earliest bronze statues were found in west Asia and Egypt . So , there is much debate about this bronze Standing Statue , whether it was native or imported . However , there were many records that it was regarded as sacrificial object was a popular custom . Golden Scepter It shares much similarity with that in west Asian and Egyptian culture , symbolizing the power of the king . Another saying is that because there are fish and bird patterns on it , fish can swim in water , bird can fly in sky . So , this is a holy sceptor , communicating the sky , earth , human being and the supernatural beings . Sun wheel Maybe , the totem worship of the sun or it is also the wheel of the ancient cart . Maybe , this wheel stands for Wu Xing , the five basic elements which together make up the universe , they are gold , wood , water , fire and soil . Generally speaking , over a hundred jade wares have been unearthed from the ruins . They were used for various purposes . Most of them were used as weapons or sacrificial utensils during rites or ceremonies . |
